Judge limits claims in state and federal antitrust lawsuits against Google |
In a recently published decision, a federal judge limited the arguments that states and the Department of Justice can present in the antitrust trial against Google, which will start in September.
Although the trial will start on September 12, Google will still have to defend against additional claims made by the enforcers.
Google's move for summary judgment in the cases brought by the Department of Justice and a group of state attorneys general was partially granted by D.C. District Court Judge Amit Mehta. In both lawsuits, it was claimed that Google had illegally barred competitors from search distribution channels in order to retain a monopoly.
Although the judge mostly permitted that joint argument from the enforcers to proceed, he notably dismissed the states' assertion that Google
